We cannot wait for the 2020-2021 school year! While we are eager to return, with the decision from Fulton Schools to begin their year virtually, we are delaying the start to our school year by two weeks. Our 1st day of school is rescheduled for Tuesday, September 8th. This will allow our teachers time to help their own children adjust to online schedules, before our school year is underway. The two-week credit will be applied to your October tuition.
Although our 1st day of school is rescheduled, our (virtual) Parent Informational Night will remain the same, Wednesday, August 19th at 7:00pm. This will be an opportunity for you to hear what to expect for the upcoming school year, as well as a time for questions. A week prior to this meeting, I will send our updated Student Handbook, where new safety guidelines, protocols and procedures will be clearly communicated. *Kindergarten students will be required to wear masks to begin the school year. You will receive more information from your child’s teacher.
Children’s Open House is rescheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd from 10:00am – 1:00pm. While we are still planning to have you and your child meet the teachers and see their classroom; the times will be staggered. You will receive an email from your teacher to sign up for a specific time. You and your child, along with one other family (two families maximum will be allowed to register for each time slot), will be offered a 15-minute window. Please plan to have one parent attend, wear a mask, and keep siblings at home.
For those families in the 3’s and older classes that are not ready for your child to return ‘in person’ (who remain enrolled), we are preparing to offer ways for you all to stay connected, until you feel ready to return. We will share Ms. Missy’s music lesson weekly, a circle time and book reading video, as well as sending home a packet from the previous weeks activities. You will also remain connected through class emails, FB private page, as well as all correspondence from the office. We hope that this helps you all make a decision that is best for your family.
**Unfortunately, early drop off and late stay will not be offered, as well as no after school activities. We are hopeful to eventually add these programs back to our schedule.
We will continue to make decisions while using an abundance of caution in our planning for the school year. Our NDS families, staff, and teachers, all share responsibility in keeping our preschool community healthy and safe. Although this school year will be unique, your child will continue to feel the warm, and loving environment that is Northminster Day School.
