NDS Staff

All of our teachers from the three, four, and five-year-old classes have teaching certificates and have been teachers in an elementary setting at some point. Among them, they have hundreds of years of experience and still enjoy coming to work every day! The teachers are top on the list of what makes Northminster Day School a special place to learn.

Andrea Bourgeois, Director

I am excited to begin my 13th year at Northminster Day School! After teaching in the 3’s and kindergarten classes, I was thrilled to fill the role of director of this wonderful school!

I graduated from the university of Alabama with a degree in early childhood/elementary education and have been an educator for more than 25 years! I taught kindergarten and 3rd grade in the public and private school system for eight years. I have been married for 21 years to my husband, Mike, and am a mom to Madelyn 19, Michael 16, and Reid 13.

I am blessed to have met so many wonderful families through NDS and to work with creative and dedicated teachers who make our preschool a warm and loving environment for our children to grow and learn.

After subbing for a year (2017-2018) at Northminster Day School, I am excited to take on a teaching position in the 3’s room!

I am originally from Massachusetts and have lived in Roswell for 2 years with my Husband, Jake, and our 2 children, Cali and Sam.

I have worked with kids of all ages since I was 13. I have a degree in Early Education and have taught children from 3 to 5 years old. I took time off to stay at home with my children until they were in elementary school. During this time I nannied infants and a toddlers.

I love watching children learn and grow and I can’t wait to be a bigger part of the Northminster team this school year!

Carrie McIver

This is my first year teaching at NDS and I couldn’t be more excited! I have spent the last two years working at a Dunwoody preschool where I taught primarily in the twos class.

Before becoming a preschool teacher, I graduated with a BS in business administration from Lander University in Greenwood, SC. I worked in Physician Recruiting until becoming a full time stay-at-home mom in 2008. My husband Matt and I are proud parents of nine year old twin boys and a six year old little girl who attend Barnwell Elementary. They definitely keeps us on our toes!

I absolutely love the preschool years and working with young children. I am looking forward to working along side the wonderful staff at NDS and more importantly having the opportunity to work with such adventurous and bright children.

Cathy Dougherty

I have been at Northminster for 15 years. I began as an Assistant in the three year old class and have spent the last six years as the assistant in the Kindergarten class. I am a native of Philadelphia but have called Alpharetta home for 25 years. When not watching one of my three kids play sports, my husband Brian and I enjoy visiting new restaurants and going to the movies.

Chris Leach

I was born and raised on the beaches of Long Island, New York. I graduated from Adelphi University with a BBA and from Nassau Community College with an AA. While taking graduate courses at Adelphi University, I met and married my husband, Erik. I was a buyer at Sterns Department store for over 15 years. In 2001, I transferred to Rich’s Department Store and, with my husband, relocated to Johns Creek, Georgia. We now have two sons, Connor and Ryan, and a fluffy little dog named snowball. At NDS, I have worked in Kindergarten, Sunday Nursery, Parents Night Out, and am currently in our 3-year-old class, 12-17 month room, and Early Drop Off.

Christy Pincheon

Teaching is a passion of mine and I’m so happy to come full circle and be a part of the NDS team again! A native New Yorker (I grew up in Huntington, Long Island), I earned my bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University and then went on to get a masters in Elementary Education at Fordham University. After teaching kindergarten for 6 years in Bucks County, PA, my husband Mark and I moved to Alpharetta in 2001. Mark and I have been married for 23 years and we have two daughters, Emma (19) and Shelby (16). I had the privilege of teaching the 4 year-old class at NDS while my girls attended preschool here themselves (2004-2007). Once they moved on to elementary school, I began teaching at Northwood ES. I look forward to creating a warm and fun learning environment that promotes discovery and fosters friendships for your children!

Cindy Muehlberger

I grew up in Marietta and graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA in Accounting.  I worked in the corporate world for six years, until I had my first son.  After staying at home for a few years, I started working at Northminster, where both of my sons attended preschool.  I have been at NDS for 16 years.  I was the assistant music teacher for nine years, and this will be my sixth year as an assistant in the four year old class.  I have been married for 25 years and have two sons, Ryan 20 and Kyle 17.  I loved NDS as a parent and I still continue to love it as a teacher!

Debbie Zaricor

I have taught at Northminster Day School for 20 years and find it more rewarding every year. Both of my children attended our school in the 90’s.

I am married and live on Lake Lanier with my husband, Ben. I am a native of Louisiana and was educated at LSU and Mississippi State University before moving to Roswell in the 80’s. My interests include reading, exercising, cooking, decorating, and lake activities. Teaching children is my favorite and most rewarding endeavor. Since the 90’s, I have seen many young children come to our school and watched them grow and develop into fine adults that both parents and the community are proud of.

I take special pride in my role of being one of the first early influences in their development and work my hardest to insure that every day is not only a milestone in learning but a day filled with fun for the children. I understand and balance the importance of being adults tomorrow with the necessity of being children today.

ERIN EASTON

This is my first year in the M, T, Th 2’s class at Northminster, and it’s hard to put into words how much I enjoy being here! I grew up in the Midwest and moved to the ATL with my husband almost 15 years ago in search of the sun with less snow.  I hold a Marketing and Interior Design degree, but my true love is raising little people.  Two of my three kiddos (who are now at Johns Creek High School, Autry Mill Middle School and Barnwell Elementary) attended Northminster, so this dayschool holds a special spot in my heart.  I can remember many a tired a.m. handing off my little people to the kind faces here, so that I could re-group and re-charge while they began learning.  I am thrilled to potentially be that person for you and your child and love nothing more than spending my a.m.’s doing art projects, singing, laughing and learning with these sweet little souls!

Gaby Burdett

Hello, my name is Gabriela (Gaby) Burdett. I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I will be your children’s Spanish teacher this year, as well as the teacher for the after school Spanish program. I moved to the United States when I was 15 and attended the Atlanta International School. I graduated form the University of Georgia where I met my wonderful husband Michael. Together we had our twins, Matthew and Maya, who attend Northwood Elementary School. I have seven years of experience teaching preschool, and I’m so honored and excited to join Northminster Day School. I look forward to getting to know your sweet children, and I thank you for the opportunity to let me introduce them to my culture and native language.

Jo Arslen

This is my third year at NDS. I am originally from Michigan, but have lived in Georgia for many years. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from KSU. I taught at Roswell North Elementary for ten years until the birth of my son. I have been a stay at home mom, volunteering at Northwood Elementary often. My two youngest children now attend Haynes Bridge Middle school. I became acquainted with NDS while babysitting for a student. I was very impressed with the day school and wanted to join this great group of educators. I am so excited to be working with the little ones in the 18-23 month class again. Children this age bring so much joy to my days.

Kathy Wilkerson

I am originally from Long Island, NY and attended the University of Delaware where I received a degree in Mass Communications.  I worked as a corporate video producer and editor until deciding to stay home to raise my 3 children.  Northminster Day School has been a big part of my life for a long time as all three of my children attended preschool here. I spent 3 years as a parent representative on the Day School board and then began teaching in the 2’s. I am currently the assistant teacher in the 4’s with Ms. Sheila.  My goal is to make school a fun and loving environment for the kids.

Katie Mulligan

I have three wonderful children, Brady 20, Meghan 17, and Sean 14, who all attended Northminster Day School. They were blessed with a warm and nurturing first school experience, which brought me to NDS as both a parent and a teacher.  I am thrilled to be back for my fourth year teaching in this preschool community. I love working with the precious three year olds, watching them explore and blossom throughout the year.

I am originally from Michigan and received my elementary education degree from Michigan State University. I taught in the Cobb County Schools for 6 years prior to raising my family. I enjoyed my years at home with my children, volunteering and being their #1 fan.  In my free time, you can find my husband and me cheering in the stands at a ball game or hockey rink, along with playing tennis, running, biking, reading and traveling.

Laura Grabow

This is my second year at the Northminster Preschool. For the past twelve years, I have worked at a preschool in Dunwoody where I held positions as a lead teacher and, most recently, Co-Director. I attended Vanderbilt University, transferred and graduated with a B.S. in Child Development from the University of Georgia. After graduation, I was sidetracked into the corporate world, but decided to go back to my original passion, children. My belief is that children are active learners and through exploration and discovery children learn from the world around them. It is our job to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to develop a life long love of learning.

My family currently lives in Johns Creek. David and I have two children, Mary-Everton (Evie), 8 and Max, 14. If I could keep them little preschoolers forever, I would. As a family, we enjoy traveling, golfing, and of course, following the Georgia Bulldogs!

Meg Dube

I have employed at Northminster Day School since 2002. After an 18-month hiatus in 2012 to pursue other opportunities, I returned Northminster in 2014. I realized how much I missed the staff and the joy of teaching children.

I have spent most of my years at Northminster co-teaching in the 5-day 2’s class. I have also taught in the 18-month class and am currently an assistant teacher in the 5-day 3’s class.

I am originally from Norwalk, CT. My husband accepted a job offer, which relocated us down to Atlanta in 1993, and have resided in Alpharetta ever since. I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in communications. My husband and I have 4 incredible children and 2 Wastes (my other children!)

Melissa “Missy” Rhodes

I grew up in Mobile, AL and attended Auburn University where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in vocal performance. I then went on to pursue Master’s Degree in voice from Georgia State University in 1997. I taught private voice lesson for many years and continued to perform as a soloist. I sang with the Atlanta Opera chorus for several seasons and was a staff singer for churches in Atlanta. During this time, I also developed a career in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. I worked as a General Manager for the Here To Serve restaurant group.

After the birth of my two children, Jackson and Laurel, I took some time off to focus on motherhood. When my family moved from downtown Atlanta to Roswell in 2011, I was overjoyed to discover Northminster Day School. Both of my kids completed their preschool years at Northminster. In 2013, I began working here as a teacher in the baby room. When the music teacher position became available in 2014, I was thrilled to be asked to take over the job. I love teaching music and I’m passionate about developing a love for music in children. My classes focus on movement, developing a sense of rhythm, playing musical instruments, listening skills, and, of course, singing songs!

Michelle Nicholson

I’m excited to start my second year as a two-year-old teacher at Northminster. Both my daughters, now in first and fourth grade, were students here, so Northminster really feels like home. Both as a parent and a teacher I’ve appreciated the warm, loving and child-centered environment Northminster creates.

I have dual degrees in Elementary Education and History from the University of North Carolina. I taught second grade at River Eves Elementary and New Prospect Elementary before a time as an adult educator and then full time mom. I’ve lived in the Atlanta area since 2001. My husband, Michael, and I have been married for 13 years and have two daughters, Katie and Ava. I enjoy reading, shopping, and spending time with my family.

I love teaching two-year-olds. It’s a wonderful age where they learn navigate peer relationships and are soaking up so much information from their environment.

Mo Troyer

I have been teaching 3’s classes at NDS since the fall of 2013. After receiving my degree from New York University in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, I moved to Seattle where my love for teaching preschool developed. Head Start, GA Pre-K, and now here at NDS, I share with the kids my favorite silly songs, finger plays, and books.

Besides being a teacher, I am a wife and mother to three wonderful children who keep me quite busy. In my free time, you can usually find me cheering for my kids at Chattahoochee High School or chasing down balls on the nearest tennis court. I also enjoy quiet moments with a book and a cup of coffee.

Nicole Adams

I am excited to join the staff at Northminster Day School as a lead teacher for the WF 2 year old class. I graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education in Exceptional Student Education. I married my college sweetheart, Mark, and taught first, second, and third grades for six years in Volusia County and Fulton County Schools before becoming a stay at home mom. My children- Will (16), Chris (14), and Elizabeth (8)- all attended NDS. My love for teaching toddlers and preschoolers began with my children and continued to develop through my volunteer work at Northminster Church, where I have served for the past thirteen years in the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs. I am blessed to have the opportunity to teach little children in such a loving, supportive school.

Sheila Burke

I am excited to be on the staff here at Northminster Day School and I enjoy all the wonderful families that make this place so special. I have spent my entire career working with children from teens to pre-school age. I started as a college recruiter talking to teens all day and then earned my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and spent my days talking to elementary aged kids. Both groups are fun and I have found that if you take the time to talk with any child, any age, you will almost always walk away with a smile!

I started teaching to Pre-k and Kindergarten aged children at my church and have enjoyed continuing on that path here at Northminster. This is a wonderful school filled with great kids and great families that support them!

Shelly Seymour

I love to have conversations with kids; it seems like the younger the child the much more entertaining the conversation! I have been having conversations with kids ever since I graduated from the University of Dayton with a dual degree in elementary & special education.

I taught special ed. for one year, then 2nd and 4th grade for 8 additional years. Then my 3 oldest daughters were born, which included twins, and they officially made my decision to stay at home. During my time at home my last daughter was born, who is now at  NDS in the Kindergarten class!

Now I’ve joined the NDS staff as a lead 2yr old teacher…I love seeing the little ones grow! I also work part time as the Atlanta Director of Fun Fluency, who will be providing the Spanish curriculum here in the Day School classes and as an after school club at NDS!

Stacey Heuer

I am originally from California but have lived in Georgia most of my life.  From early on, I have always had a love for children and knew I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up.  I graduated from North Georgia College and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, and over time, I’ve kept my teacher certification up to date.  After college, I taught Pre-K for 2 years and First Grade for 8 years, as well as taught religion school at my church for many years.  I decided to stop teaching to stay home and raise my family.  I love spending time with my husband of 20 years, Jim, my daughter Megan (16), son Jared (12), and our cat Lucy (3).

This is my 5th year teaching at NDS.   I have really enjoyed working here as a substitute teacher, a teacher at Parents’ Night Out and Early Drop Off, and currently as an assistant teacher in both Parents’ Morning Out classes (12-17 mos. and 18-23 mos.).   I love being with all of these sweet, smart, and fun-loving children and being a part of this very special school!
