NDS Staff Information

All of our teachers from the three, four, and five-year-old classes have teaching certificates and have been teachers in an elementary setting at some point. Among them, they have decades of years of experience and still enjoy coming to work every day!

The teachers are top on the list of what makes Northminster Day School a special place to learn.

ANDREA BOURGEOIS

ANDREA BOURGEOIS

Director

My time at Northminster Day School began in 2007. After six years of teaching a 3s class and two years teaching Kindergarten, I was thrilled to fill the role of director of this wonderful school!

I graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education in 1992 and have worked in various education roles over the years– from preschool, Kindergarten, and 3rd grade in the public and private school systems to many years working with preschoolers and elementary age children at The Dunwoody Nature Center. The children continue to fuel my passion for the most rewarding job in the world!

I’m married with three children who all attended NDS and who continue to return in the summer as camp teachers. This school is so very special to all of us. I am blessed to have met so many wonderful families through NDS and to work with creative and dedicated teachers who make our preschool a warm and loving environment for our children to grow and learn.

I have been teaching at NDS since 2017. My 1st year I spent substituting in all the classes and fell in love with the school. I happily accepted a position in the 2s class the following year. I have worked with kids of all ages since I was 13, have a degree in Early Education, and have taught children from 2- to 5-years-old. I took time off to stay at home with my children until they were in elementary school. During this time I nannied infants and toddlers.

I am originally from Massachusetts and moved to Roswell in 2016 with my husband, and our 2 children. I love watching children learn and grow and I really enjoy being part of the Northminster team!

I am so excited to join the Darling Ducklings classroom! I’ve only been in Georgia for one year but have been blown away by the quality of preschool education here. I am originally from Connecticut, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Quinnipiac University. Shortly after the birth of my first child, I shifted careers and took a job as a nanny– caring for a 4-month old, along with my own daughter. I immediately fell in love with child care and continued my nanny career until my first child started Pre-K. I am so grateful to be a part of your kiddos early childhood education!

Teaching is a passion of mine, and I’m so happy to come full circle and be a part of the NDS team again! A native New Yorker (I grew up in Huntington, Long Island), I earned my bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University and then went on to get a masters in Elementary Education at Fordham University. After teaching kindergarten for 6 years in Bucks County, PA, my husband and I moved to Alpharetta in 2001. We are proud parents of two daughters who are now all grown up. I had the privilege of teaching the 4-year-old class at NDS while my girls attended preschool here themselves (2004-2007). Once they moved on to elementary school, I began teaching at Northwood ES. I returned to NDS to teach kindergarten in 2018, and I look forward to creating a warm and fun learning environment that promotes discovery and fosters friendships for your children!

My love for children runs deep, and I couldn’t be more excited to join the NDS staff! Born and raised in Kansas, I moved to Boston in my early twenties after attending Kansas State University and earning a degree in political science. After spending four years working as a live-in nanny (and quickly realizing how much I love working with young children), I returned to Kansas and met my husband of 22 years. We have four teenage children (college, high school, and middle school), and each was born in a different state! In 2012, we decided to plant our roots in Atlanta; Johns Creek has become “home.” Walking, reading, and time spent with my family and our two dogs are a few of my favorite things. I can’t wait to meet the children at NDS and be a part of this sweet community!

LAURA GRABOW

LAURA GRABOW

For over 20 years, I have worked with preschool children. I have held positions as a lead teacher, co-director, and now as an assistant. I attended Vanderbilt University, transferred and graduated with a B.S. in Child Development from the University of Georgia. After graduation, I was sidetracked into the corporate world but decided to go back to my original passion, children. My belief is that children are active learners and that through exploration and discovery, children learn from the world around them. It is our job to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to develop a life-long love of learning.

My family currently lives in Johns Creek. My husband, David, and I have 2 children. If I could keep them little preschoolers forever, I would. As a family, we enjoy traveling, golfing, skiing, and of course, following the Georgia Bulldogs!
